Brussels mini-concert, August 20th

a-ha did a surprise mini-concert in Brussels last Thursday, August 20th, as part of a media conference hosted by the Belgian TV channels VT4 and VIJFtv.

Apparently this performance was so shrouded in secrecy that none of us knew about it until now. The event was held at Ancienne Belgique - the same venue where a-ha will play in November, as part of the upcoming tour.

The setlist of this mini-concert is not known, but there is a short video clip of "Take On Me" on YouTube. And more pictures from the event can be found here.

I just noticed the setlist on the floor next to Paul's pedals in this picture.

It's 4 songs, and after zooming in on the picture I think they are:

1. The Sun Always Shines On TV
2. Riding The Crest
3. Foot Of The Mountain
4. Take On Me

Which would be the same setlist they did in Oslo in June. They also played the same four songs (plus "Analogue") at the Arqiva Awards in June - which was a similar closed event for media folks.

Thinking now it would be logical for them to more or less keep the same tracklist for gigs like this. Doubt they'd have much time and opportunity to rehearse other ones now.

It was a media conference about the autumn programming of the tv channels VT4 and VIJFtv.

Oh that's too bad for fans! Maybe the organizers should have had a competition to win tix.
Anyway I'm pretty sure it had a good impact on those attending. Pretty sure they were all pleased and will write good things about the band.
